What kind of artist are you?

Nupur Arts Dance Academy is Leicester’s leading South Asian dance academy, established since 1990. We specialise in Bharatanatyam, Bollywood and Folk, offering dance classes to all demographics and currently to over 200 students. Alongside this, we develop, promote and support South Asian arts in Leicestershire & beyond.

Nupur Arts plays a key role in enriching local communities and engaging with people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds, through a range of arts and cultural activities. We are also proud to be an Arts Council England’s National Portfolio Organisation!

Where do you find inspiration?

Sometimes it’s larger life events, milestones or even wordly events- e.g. migration, wars, partition, lockdown, life events like becoming a parent, graduating, South Asian diaspora communities – touching on these feelings and what this means for us and the people around us.

Sometimes it’s every day things- observing how people talk, react, relationships, womanhood, friendships etc

Sometimes and often it’s seeing other peoples work which relate to your story. The feeling of seeing a show whether it be a small sharing, a large scale theatre performance, a musical, a live music night- it often leaves an artist wanting to create.

Do you have any memories of Made With Many Projects that are important to you?

This is our very first time working with Made With Many!
