Textile Artist Callout
Memories of the Windrush (Community Quilt/Textile Art project)
Working with members of Wellingborough African Caribbean Association, a local community group of all ages at their Rock Street Centre in Wellingborough, we would like a Textile Artist to run a series of between 5-6 workshops between April and June, leading to the development of a co-produced quilt or textile art creation to celebrate the Windrush Generation in Wellingborough.
Suggested dates
Suggested dates for the workshops are below and the quilt will be displayed at a Windrush Family Day on Saturday 18 June:
- Workshops to develop the quilt/art piece: 9 April / 23 April / 7 May / 21 May / 4 June 2022
- Windrush Day Family Event on Saturday 18 June (sharing the quilt with the local community and a give it a go workshop to encourage more engagement).
We would expect the Textile Artist to undertake the overall design and finishing of the Textile piece whilst encouraging and supporting individuals to complete squares or areas of the quilt. All textiles techniques and suggested designs are welcome.
