Join Wellingborough African Caribbean Association & Made With Many as we celebrate National Windrush Day Join us online as we celebrate National Windrush Day on Friday 25th June starting at 7:30 pm via Zoom The event features 'Arrival to Deportation' by Guest Speaker Nairobi Thompson, who is the Poet in Residence for the Windrush Foundation & The Equiano Society, and the amazing 'Streets Paved with Gold' presented by Victor Richards, Actor, Director, Writer and Poet. Victor Richards and Nairobi Thompson Test your knowledge about the Windrush era with the quiz; bring images of Caribbean people arriving in England on MV Empire Windrush to life with the vibrant colours they would have been wearing; trace these images and unleash your imagination as you recreate them; write a short catchy acrostic poem – don’t worry there are instructions to help you. Have fun in the kitchen making this popular Caribbean treat and remember to take some pictures before they are devoured; record the memories of these activities as you start your very own “Taste of The Windrush Era” scrapbook. Find out how you can get a copy of 'Taste of The Windrush Era' activity pack and have a chance to win a £50 voucher for a meal at June Plum. The pack, created by Made With Many and Cinnamon Arts Group contains: An activity to write an acrostic poem A colouring/painting and/or tracing activity A quiz about the Windrush era; with a separate page with the answers A recipe for a tasty Caribbean treat A blank scrapbook to start your own collection of Windrush memorabilia Art supplies and materials to indulge your creativity Myrle Roach, Made With Many Community Engagement Coordinator commented: "Tuesday 22 June 2021 is National Windrush Day, an important date in the history of Caribbean people living in the UK.
