Throughout May during Local and Community History Month and early June, our friends at Corby Library have lots of activities planned to celebrate both Corby Pole Fair and the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee!
The ‘Greasy’ Pole at Corby Pole Fair
Historically, the Pole Fair has included the challenge of the Greasy Pole, where local people try their best to climb a greased telegraph pole for a chance to win a joint of ham. This year the challenge is to take a picture with our ceremonial pole and upload it to the Corby Pole Fair Facebook page by Friday 10th June. The best picture wins!
