A scentsational spectacle of colour and form

Flowers take centre stage

Corby & District Flower Club are presenting an ambitious floral festival that includes exciting demonstrations and workshops to be held alongside a three-day contemporary floral art exhibition. This event was supported by us through the Big Ideas scheme (now Cultivate).

Floral Fest 2016 will run from Wednesday 12th – Monday 17th October. The event also includes a series of events that will be a feast for the senses!

Why not get creative and join in a workshop to make a contemporary floral arrangement? Have a go at making some floral art on Wednesday 12th October 2.00pm-3.00pm at Kingswood Neighbourhood Centre. You can also submit your work to the Floral Art Exhibition, opening Friday 14th October and running for 3 days. Opening times: 11.00am – 3.30pm daily with free entry.

More About the Event

Exhibits are created by either members of Corby District Flower Club or members of public who participated in the workshop on the 12th. Throughout the exhibition you can also enjoy floral art demonstrations, taster sessions as well as stalls and refreshments from the café.

Corby and District Flower Club and local artist Phiona Richards have collaborated on the centrepiece for the festival which will be a very textural piece of work.  Phiona Richards is a local designer and maker who has lived in Corby for 30 years.  As well as providing workshops locally and nationally, she is also happy to work on commissions including wedding flowers and custom made jewellery pieces.  She has exhibited around the world and also appeared on the Channel Four series Kirstie Allsop’s Handmade Britain. Phiona has just finished working on the “Our Woods” project in Corby. She will be providing a workshop of festive makes at The Core for the upcoming show “A Christmas Carole.”

You can find or contact Phiona via Facebook, Instagram and Twitter; or alternatively through her website www.rarenotions.co.uk

An event with Chelsea Gold Medallist 2016, Mig Kimpton, has proved so popular it has already sold out! However, you can still book for two other exciting opportunities with renowned National Association of Flower Arranging Societies demonstrators at The Core at Corby Cube.

On Saturday 15th October Sean Murray, winner of BBC2’s ‘The Chelsea Garden Challenge’ in 2015 will share his experience of designing a Garden at the Chelsea Flower Show with a Q & A session at the end.

To close the festival on Monday 17th October, Jonathan Moseley, floral expert on BBC2’s ‘The Big Allotment Challenge’ and designer of the annual Florabundance exhibition at Chatsworth House will present his floral demonstration ‘Floral Art Attack’.
