Projects develop a life of their own
Over the last three years, we’ve been working with various local community organisations and individuals to help them realise their ambitions for the arts in Corby. We’re delighted to see that some of these projects have flourished and taken on a life of their own, independently of Made In Corby!
We’re profiling 3 of these projects today, including Field Day Festival, run last year for the very first time as a collaboration between Made In Corby and KHL Big Local, a community organisation that aims to make Kingswood and Hazel Leys better places to live. This Saturday, KHL Big Local will be bringing circus, music, dance and lots more family arts and fun to their community at Woodsend Field!
Secondly, Elementz Corby, the brainchild of emerging local artist Jamzy, was an extremely popular project that developed the creative skills and confidence of young people. Jamzy has now teamed up with music specialists HQ Recording Studio to deliver more fantastic workshops and performance opportunities for aspiring rappers, poets, singers and producers at Kingswood and Hazelwood Community Centres.
Lastly and certainly not least, Corby Big Film Week! First run in 2015 by social enterprise HD Media CIC as week-long celebration of all things movie related as part of our Big Ideas scheme. Corby Big Film Week returns this Autumn with a programme of amazing hands-on workshops and fantastic films with high profile celebrity guests from 14th to 17th October this year.
We’re also keen to hear about your ambitious ideas for the Arts in Corby, so please feel free to attend our new Arts Networking events, the first of which will be held at 7pm on 18th October at the Rooftop Arts Centre. If you’re a local artist, member of an arts group or community group who is interested in meeting like-minded people and developing your own project – please come along!
