Using public transport or walking to the venue is advised as parking in this area is extremely limited. Plan your bus journey HERE (Pen Green’s postcode is NN17 1BJ). If you do park nearby, please be mindful of local residents.

Parade and theme of the day

There will be a parade in the streets near Pen Green from 1pm on Saturday 1st July. The theme for the day is rainbow – so come in all your brightest colours and if you like, bring something to wave in the parade! During the parade there will still be activities happening in Pen Green, however it will be less busy and a nice time to relax if you prefer.

Parade road closures

Rolling road closures on the streets listed below will take place with each expected for 5-10 minutes at a time as the parade passes. The parade is expected to take around 20 minutes in total, depending on how many people join. All homes along the route have received a letter from Pen Green about the closure.

  • Pen Green Lane
  • James Watt Avenue
  • Stephenson Way
  • Nasmith Avenue

Buggy parking

We advise where possible you keep your buggies with you, but we will have a small area in the Ladybird area where you can leave your buggy. This area will not be staffed so personal possessions are left at your own risk.

Refreshments

We encourage attendees to bring a picnic with them. We will also have some picnic blankets you can borrow for the day. There will also be an ice cream van on site between 11am and 3pm. Please bring plenty of water with you if it is a hot day. There will be an ice-cream van is also in the Research Base car park.

Messy Play Activities

There are lots of messy play activities planned throughout the day. We would advise bringing extra clothes which you don’t mind getting paint or similar on them for your children. It’s also advisable to bring extra wipes and a small towel, just in case!

Photography

We will have official photographers and a film maker on the day of the event. If you do not want you or your child to be included in this record of the day, please speak to the staff on the info point for assistance.

First Aid

There will be an ambulance and paramedic technician on site in case of emergencies.

Weather planning

Please come dressed appropriately for the weather, whether rain or shine! Please bring sun hats and suncream to protect you if it is a hot and sunny day. In the event of wet weather, the programme schedule will change on the day to allow us to move activities indoors. In the event of severe weather, some activities may change, be postponed or cancelled. Please keep an eye on our facebook page for regular updates through the day of the festival
