Meet The Artist: Becky Carrier
January 21, 2026 | BlogsBecky is currently working on a Rebels and Revolutionaries Community Commission with Made With Many in both Corby and Wellingborough…and will also be getting involved in Well Creative Festival with our CANVAS youth group.
What kind of artist are you?
My background is in Film. I worked in the Film industry as a Production Manager and Producer on short and feature length films, television and commercials for about 15 years. But while doing that I also did small bits of work in theatre, literary activities and events, and I realised what I love most is bringing people together with great ideas to produce creative, thought-provoking projects. I also really love hearing people’s stories, discovering their talents and helping them to follow their passions, especially when connected to place (and especially Northamptonshire!). So, while I still make films, I now mostly spend my time running Northampton Film Festival to celebrate film and Northamptonshire, and support local filmmakers, and the world’s smallest arts centre The Creative Place on Northampton’s Market Square, which supports creatives and celebrates creativity locally. At NFF we say Northants is a county of Rebels and Revolutionaries, Misfits and Mavericks, Creatives and Changemakers, and I love helping people find out where they sit in that, and making sure people are inspired by the place in which they live.

Where do you find inspiration?
Inspiration is at the heart of everything we do at Northampton Film Festival. I think there’s inspiration everywhere around Northamptonshire. I’m continually inspired by meeting new people, discussing ideas and letting my imagination run away with itself! I’m really lucky I have the opportunity to make some of my ideas become a reality and I want to help others to be able to do that.
What advice would you give to anyone who wants to be an artist in Northamptonshire?
Come talk to us at The Creative Place to see how we can help! But even if you can’t, we are surrounded by brilliant artists in this county and people are often happy to offer advice and help, so reach out, go to events, meet people and just keep creating. You are not alone and it is possible!
Do you have any memories of Made With Many Projects that are important to you?
I worked for Made With Many for a few years, setting up their Canvas youth group in Wellingborough and helping with the first Well Creative festival. It was a huge catalyst for me moving from just Film into the wider creative sector and now I’m happy to say I’m back in Wellingborough with The Creative Place running one of our first Shed of Culture projects in the town.
What is your favourite biscuit?
