We are excited to announce that Made in Corby has been granted £885,000 investment from Arts Council England for an innovative and inspiring programme of arts activity for Corby. The funding, which lasts for 3 years from July 2017 to June 2020, will enable us to continue to create exciting arts projects led by local people and will allow us to continue to bring the very best artists to work with the local community.
Phase 2 of Made in Corby
The programme will centre around three festivals, delivered with The Core at Corby Cube, reflecting the fact that Corby is the fastest growing UK borough outside of London and based on the themes of water, light and food. The programme will also provide decision-making opportunities for community groups, alongside bespoke support for artists and groups working with local communities. In addition, The programme has been developed by the Made in Corby consortium in response to suggestions and ideas from local people we have met during our Community Conversations.
We are thrilled that we will be able to continue to engage more local people than ever before in high-quality arts activities. This investment from Arts Council England will enable us to expand on our pledge to put local people at the heart of art provision in the borough and to strengthen our relationship with local artists, arts organisations and community groups.
Peter Knott, Area Director, Arts Council England said: “Arts and culture make the places we live vibrant and exciting, entertaining and inspiring us, benefiting our wellbeing and helping local economies. This new investment in Made in Corby will see the team build on their achievements so far through the production of new projects that ensure more people in Corby can take part in and enjoy great artistic and cultural events in their communities.”
We’ll continue consulting local people about our proposed plans in Spring 2017, so please do let us know if you would like us to visit your community group or receive an invitation to one of our consultation events.
