Line up of local performers announced for the People’s Stage at Corby’s Grow Festival 2019

The line-up of performers has been announced for the People’s Stage at Corby’s second Grow Festival, taking place on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 July in Corby town centre.

This fantastic outdoor arts festival, commissioned by Made in Corby and co-produced by The Core at Corby Cube is this year inspired by all things culinary, and will animate Corby’s town centre with performances, experiences and workshops throughout the weekend.

Local musicians, choirs, dance groups, bands and spoken word artists take to the People’s Stage on Saturday 27 July in Queen’s Square and on Sunday 28 July in Coronation Park, with a line-up of performances programmed by the festival’s volunteer Community Panel.

The well-established local choir, Big About Singing will be first on the People’s Stage on Saturday with their eclectic repertoire, whilst The Core’s over 55’s creative dance group Moving Together will get you dancing in a food-themed live workshop later on in the day. Solo acts on the Saturday include acoustic singer-songwriter Paul Roberts and performance poet Liam Ferguson, who writes about everyday life in Corby. Bringing a more urban flavour to the festival will be Bodyrox  Dance Company and home-grown hip hop group The Enablers.

On Sunday in Coronation Park, you can enjoy music from indie-rock band XV Frames, as well as youth music group, Oakley Rangers. Solo act Matthew McGhie will take to the stage with his unique experimental folk rock whilst 13 year old singer-songwriter Eva Rose brings her budding talent back for a second year. Compere for the day will be the highly entertaining Chuck the Poet who will also amuse festival goers with his stand-up punchline poetry and Corby Amateur Theatrical Society are set to delight audiences with popular songs from the musicals.

An enormous community feast will also take place on Sunday 28 July in Coronation Park, to celebrate the food and cultures of Corby whilst diners are entertained by the performances on the People’s Stage and acclaimed street artists throughout the park.
