Draw Your Story
What is Home: Departing and Arriving
Visual storytelling with illustrator-as-historian Kremena Dimitrova in Wellingborough Library
What has your experience been growing up or settling in Wellingborough? What does it take to call a place home and what are your memories of home? What do you want to whisper, say, scream, and broadcast about Wellingborough? What stories and visions do you think a creative map of your town should include?
Help Kremena visually bring Wellingborough’s multi-layered oral histories to life by tracing humorous encounters, drawing narratives of kindness, and mapping pathways to freedom.
We will learn about illustration, character development, and storyboarding through comics-making while experimenting with different artistic techniques and materials. Your ideas, writings, and drawings will be used to co-create an exhibition celebrating Wellingborough’s community and untold narratives.
No existing art experience is necessary – only artful thinking, inspiration, and a touch of imagination… so, please make sure you have your creative hats on! All ages are welcome, though anyone under the age of 16 should be accompanied by an adult. Drop in and tell us your story!
