Adult Cast Auditions for Danny Hero – 21st/22nd May
21st May 2016 - 22nd May 2016
After great anticipation the dates for the Danny Hero Adult Cast Auditions have finally been set! This is a thrilling opportunity to take part in something you may have never experienced before, created with our local community in mind. We’re interested in seeing anyone, regardless of experience! So don’t feel pressured as you won’t have to sing, act or dance on your own unless you’re auditioning for a specific part or you just simply want to.
There is a very wide range of both Principal and Ensemble roles to audition for, some even non-singing. Allowing for a wide range of our local community to take part with something to suit almost everyone! A breakdown of the characters is provided below.
Danny’s mum, a single mum living in a council flat, she works – hard – in a factory, care-worn but very loving. Worried about Danny and making ends meet.
Andy (late 50’s – 60’s)
Danny’s grandad, father of Danny’s (dead) father. A former steelworker – a tough man but one with great compassion and a powerful and sincere interest in his grandson and the superhero comics he writes and draws. Runs the small museum that commemorates the town’s industrial heritage.
Tony (30 – 50s)
Lee’s dad, again recently arrived – perhaps from London – a successful self-made businessman: rich, very charming like his son, but secretly a bully and a crook. The villain of the piece. Also plays Danny Hero’s arch enemy, a supervillain called The Walking Dread.
Three workmates of Sheila’s at the factory –
Carmen (any age) Meera (any) All caring, but fun. Sheila’s comforters in tough times. Diane (any)…and Diane is a bit of a sexpot too
Ted Mellish (any)
A corrupt town councillor, greedy, pompous and cowardly.
Blake and Darren (any)
Two men from the town
Sam (any) Meera’s husband, Bobby (any) Carmen’s husband
Mrs. Blake (any) (NON SINGING)
Danny’s schoolteacher. Concerned about him. Always trying to do what she thinks is best.
There are also plenty of smaller ensemble roles available if sought.
If you’re interested in Teenager or Younger Cast Member roles please follow the link here.
Later in the year, we’ll also be looking for local musicians and singers for an off-stage choir.
You MUST book a place via EventBrite so you can be enrolled before auditioning. All material required (such as lines to be performed) will be provided after booking. As long as you are in Year 10 or over by September 2016, you’re eligible to take part! Bare in mind there is a potential for call-backs on some roles on Sunday 22nd May.
