We are continuing to develop our Street Art Trail in Wellingborough with a new artwork at the River Nene A509 underpass at The Embankment.
In collaboration with North Northamptonshire Council and Nenescape (part of the River Nene Regional Partnership) we have transformed the area with a large mural in the iconic area opposite the Whitworths Mill by the River Nene in Wellingborough, where there was previously a great deal of graffiti.
Artist Rob Turner responded to our call out for artists and was successful in being commissioned to lead on this exciting project. He started the process with a community conversation and arts activity with shoppers at Swansgate Shopping Centre on 1st October, where he gathered feedback and ideas for the Embankment design.
After some help from volunteers over October half-term to paint the wall white, Rob has been busy sketching out and painting the new mural Embankment and it is now finished! The wing walls have been smartened up and the design has had a coating of anti-graffiti paint to make it easier to maintain.
