Creativity, Challenges and Changes.

Blog by Vicky Frayard, Co-Director (Creative and Cultural Leadership)

As we rapidly approach the end of 2023, it seems like a good time to reflect on the creativity, changes and challenges that this year has brought Made With Many. Reading back, our Producer Tom’s blog from January this year about embracing the setbacks, I’m reminded of how far we have come in just 12 months. He also talks about courting failure and using those setbacks to inspire opportunities to learn and grow. It is fair to say that, if we’ve done anything this year at Made With Many, we’ve most certainly had opportunities to learn and grow – though you’ll have to ask Tom how he got on with building a table from scratch…

My personal highlights of 2023 are rooted in the incredible partnership projects we’ve been part of this year. Our first Family Arts Festival in Corby was full of beautiful moments of creativity, connection and joy – big thanks once again to Pen Green Centre for trusting and embracing all that this project threw at you!

Wellingborough Stories culminated in an extraordinary celebration of co-created artwork, local people’s stories and animating of public spaces. So many of the stories that local people kindly shared and entrusted to us truly showed the resilience I’ve witnessed time and time again within our communities. Another huge thank you to everyone who contributed to the Wellingborough Stories project.

We have seen big changes to our staff team. As well as welcoming new colleagues, we have existing members of the team that have taken up new roles within our new structure. We also send our congratulations to Trishna who is currently on maternity leave following the birth of her beautiful daughter earlier in the year. I’d also like to take the opportunity to thank our fantastic team at Made With Many for their exceptional commitment to the work we do and how they regularly go above and beyond. As we finish up the last of our lantern workshops this week, I can’t help but make the connection of bringing light to the darkness. It’s been a tough year but thank you for sticking with me.

At this time of year, I’m also reminded that the festive period can be more challenging for some. Take a moment to seek connection, rest and recovery during this time; being kind to yourself as well as others.

Finally, from everyone at Made With Many, we wish you a Merry Christmas. We can’t wait to share with you what we’ve got lined up for 2024!
