To celebrate the Volunteers’ Week, we hosted a celebration evening to recognise the valuable contribution volunteers have made to our work and are inviting local people to an event to find out about the many cultural volunteering opportunities in Corby.
Volunteers’ Week is an annual celebration of the work of over 23 million volunteers in communities all across the UK, running from 1st – 7th June each year since being established in 1984 by the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO).
Since 2014, volunteers have contributed 9417 volunteering hours to the Made In Corby programme in many different roles, from getting involved in community decision-making panels to offering practical assistance at a wide variety of arts events, such as festivals, art exhibitions and theatre productions. Our Arts Ambassadors also help to spread the word about local arts activities through community groups, schools, neighbourhoods, workplaces and online through social networks.
Our Programme Director, Helen Willmott commented, “Our whole arts programme is community-led, so our volunteers are vital to connecting communities to the work we do – so we have much to thank them for. Every contribution made by a volunteer enables us to continue making Corby a more creative and cultural place to live and visit.”
