Heritage Consultant vacancy

Corby Pole Fair Development Phase
Consultancy Brief

We are looking for a heritage consultant to act as a ‘critical friend’ to work alongside the steering group to create the delivery plan for the festival. We envisage that this will include:

  • Creation and delivery of a thorough consultation plan, which allows for the opinions and ideas of local residents and stakeholders to shape planning for the fair
  • Facilitation of up to 10 focus groups as part of the consultation
  • Regular meetings with the volunteer committee and steering group, as well as providing written updates at regular intervals (to be negotiated with the steering group)
  • Creating a plan for the fair including key themes, additional delivery partners and pre-fair community engagement
  • Creation of a governance model that allows for both professional management of the fair and development of the volunteer committee into a legacy for the fair
  • Development of an achievable and ambitious fundraising plan, to include bids to lottery distributors and other trusts/foundations alongside earned income and support from local businesses

There is potential for the successful candidate to be offered continued work to support the steering group through the delivery phase of the festival if appropriate funding is secured.

Requirements

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Extensive experience of delivering meaningful consultation with a range of stakeholders, including local residents
  • Demonstrable track record of planning for large events, preferably within the heritage sector
  • A working knowledge of governance structures and delivery mechanisms for large events
  • A comprehensive and current knowledge of potential funding for heritage events
  • Ability to build strong working relationships within a multi-partner project
  • Knowledge of the heritage, arts and community development sectors, preferably gained through cross-sector collaborations
  • An understanding and commitment to community leadership and principles of co-design
