A new group for over-65s is half-way through 12 weeks of sessions exploring visual arts and crafts, supported by the ScottishPower Foundation. In a relatively short space of time, the group have produced some brilliant and experimental artworks with help and guidance from artist Linzi Bright.
During the hour-long sessions, group members have been busy trying out new techniques and processes, including paper crafts, lino cutting and various methods of printing. Now they are really looking forward to putting their ideas into practice and planning a larger piece of mixed media work that will be exhibited at a celebration of older peoples’ creativity in Spring 2020.
These sessions are part of a year-long programme of arts activities, and you can still join in by simply turning up at Corby Library from 11am – 12pm on a Wednesday. It’s a friendly and relaxed group which takes place weekly until 17th July, then after a summer break the sessions will start up again in Autumn 2019 with visual artist Phiona Richards.
There is no cost to attend and no experience is necessary – you just need to be aged 65 or over to get involved. You can see from the comments below from current attendees below that you’ll get a lot out of it!
“Start at the beginning and Linzi shows us step-by-step, it’s easy when you know how!”
“We have learnt so much.”
“We have come together as a supportive group.”
“It’s been a journey.”
