2015 in review

By Helen Willmott, Made In Corby Programme Manager.

As we’re coming to the end of 2015, we thought it was time to pause and reflect about what has happened over the last 12 months – and allow ourselves to get a little excited about what we have planned for 2016!

For Made in Corby, 2015 started with a roomful of local people coming together to discuss musicals – what we like about them, what’s our west end favourite and most importantly, what a musical inspired by Corby might look and sound like! We took your thoughts forward and invited four writing teams to put together their ideas and in May, Danny Hero was chosen as Corby’s new musical! We’ll be sharing Act 1 of the show with you all in February, before the full production hits the stage in October!

The highlight of the year came in July, when after months of planning, taster sessions, auditions and rehearsals, ten local people took to the stage in No Way Back. Created by the internationally renowned Frantic Assembly, whose directors Scott Graham and Neil Bettles come from Corby, the show wowed and inspired audiences.

In between that we’ve delivered a number of Big Days In, your chance to discover something new, taken local people to see great art elsewhere on our Big Nights Out and funded four local groups to deliver their own arts projects through our Big Ideas strand. Overall we’ve put on 129 events which have been attended by just over 4250 of you.

So, for 2016 watch out for more news of Danny Hero, more of our Big Days In and Big Nights Out and new extraordinary arts projects designed by a range of communities across the borough. There lots to get involved in, so join us in 2016 to be inspired, try something different and discover new possibilities.
